Boundary

White lilacs framed a pale blue sky as I watched sunlight dance between shifting silhouettes on the pavement at my feet. A light breeze caught the floral fragrance and flowed over my fingertips. In the shade, a warm glow hovered at the edges between light and shadow, and when petals fell exactly on that boundary, they seemed to dissolve into a cream-coloured haze. I watched in awe at their transformation, for when I tried to find those petals again, there was nothing left but the pavement on which it had rested just a moment ago. One foot followed and then the other, and as the warmth fell upon my face, I promised not to look back.
